Day Care for Exceptional Children to Become Part of ChildServe

August 1, 2008

Beginning in November, the Day Care for Exceptional Children will become part of ChildServe. Both organizations have a long history of providing services to children with special needs. Day Care For Exceptional Children has been serving the special needs of children in the Des Moines metro area since 1974. ChildServe, founded in 1928, partners with families to help children with special health care needs live a great life.

“There is a natural fit between ChildServe and Day Care for Exceptional Children because our missions and values are so well aligned,” says ChildServe President and CEO, Lloyd VanderKwaak. “By combining our resources, we will build on our experience and values to ensure that families of children with special needs continue to have options for high quality childcare in the Des Moines area.”

The integration with Day Care for Exceptional Children allows ChildServe to offer families the option of specialized childcare, while the centers in Johnston and Ames will continue to offer integrated childcare for children of all abilities. The center at 644 24th Street in Des Moines will be re-named ChildServe Woodland Center and will continue to provide the same type of specialized services.
